Year 5 Synagogue Visit

Year 5 Synagogue Visit
Today, the children in Year 5 visited Welwyn Garden Hebrew Congregation. We enjoyed looking at symbols associated with Judaism, exploring the stained-glass windows and finding out their meaning and viewing a real Torah Scroll . The lovely volunteers gave us prayer shawls and hats to try on, as well as teaching us some Hebrew, setting up a Shabbat (Sabbath) meal for us to re-enact and giving us grape juice and Challah bread to taste. As always, the children represented Ickleford Primary School impeccably, showing respect and interest in learning about Judaism.

Homework club cancellations

Dear Parents.

With the end of the year fast approaching, I’m writing to let you know the dates for upcoming Homework Club sessions.  There will be a session on Monday 26th June, but the session on 3rd July will be cancelled, as the staff have first aid training after school.  Sadly, Monday 10th July will be our last session for this year.  Can I take this opportunity to thank you for allowing your children to attend this club, and to your children for working so hard and having a fabulous attitude.

Many Thanks

Mrs Hart

Year 3 Visit Luton Central Mosque

Year 3 Visit Luton Central Mosque
Today, the children in Year 3 visited Luton Central Mosque. We enjoyed exploring the prayer mats, looking at the Arabic calligraphy and experiencing the great dome from the inside and outside. We learnt a lot about how Muslims pray, when they gather in the Mosque and how the Five Pillars of Islam guide their lives. We were also interested to hear about lots of similarities between stories in the Bible and those in the Qur'an, and we found out that there are many shared beliefs and Prophets between both Islam and Christianity.

Values Bunting

Values Bunting

How wonderful to see such a lot of KS2 children showing a patient attitude around the school this week and setting an exemplary example to others. A special mention to Molly, Emily and Kiera (Year 5) who were awarded silver bunting for showing a wide range of values when sharing a special reward they earned individually with the whole class, who very much appreciated it!

Parent Courses

Please check the SEN documents pages regularly for updates on parent courses that may be relevant to you and your child(ren). These courses are usually free of charge and support a wide range of needs, such as children with Autism or ADHD, anger management, self-esteem issues or support with transition.  Some of the courses require a child to have a diagnosis but many of them are available to parents who are looking for some extra support or alternative strategies to try at home.
