We are collecting Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers

As a small school, these schemes really benefit the pupils as we are able to order resources that enrich the curriculum.  We are hoping that this year will be our best collection yet so we can take advantage of some new P.E equipment as well as classroom based items.  Please send your vouchers in with your children who can place them in the box outside the Year 5 and 6 classrooms.'

Values Bunting

Values Bunting

How wonderful to see such a lot of KS2 children showing a patient attitude around the school this week and setting an exemplary example to others. A special mention to Molly, Emily and Kiera (Year 5) who were awarded silver bunting for showing a wide range of values when sharing a special reward they earned individually with the whole class, who very much appreciated it!

Parent Courses

Please check the SEN documents pages regularly for updates on parent courses that may be relevant to you and your child(ren). These courses are usually free of charge and support a wide range of needs, such as children with Autism or ADHD, anger management, self-esteem issues or support with transition.  Some of the courses require a child to have a diagnosis but many of them are available to parents who are looking for some extra support or alternative strategies to try at home.

Values Bunting

Values Bunting
Well done to Phoebe and Harry (Year 3) and Michelle (Year 4) for showing a wonderfully patient attitude in lessons, therefore being the first to achieve bunting for our new value of ‘Patience.’

It was also wonderful to see Poppy and Phoebe (Year 6) being nominated for silver bunting for showing great understanding to a friend in need.

I look forward to much more bunting to come over the month!

NHSSP Sports Hall Athletics Heat news

Well done to all the children who took part in this year’s NHSSP Sportshall Athletics Heat

It was a fantastic event and all those selected represented the school magnificently.

Ickleford boys and girls athletics teams competed in a range of relay races and field events against five other Hitchin schools.

The girls’ team finished third, a wonderful achievement. The boys’ team finished second which means they have qualified to compete in the Sportshall Athletics Final on Tuesday 21st February at Highfield School.

Values Bunting - Peace

IMG 0749IMG 0750

Following our Remembrance Service last Friday, many children have been reflecting on the meaning of ‘peace’ and thinking about how to create a peaceful atmosphere in school. A huge amount of children received bunting to recognise their exceptional effort at maintaining this month’s value of peace. What a pleasure to award so much bunting, which is now hung around the Values display in the library. Well done to all!

Honestly... Which mindset are you?

During September, our value is 'Honesty.'

In our shared Collective Worship time, we thought about the purpose and meaning of being honest about our own learning and achievements. We used examples of recent inspirational, and not so, Olympic stories to help us think about the difference between a 'fixed mindset' and a 'growth mindset.' Ask your children if they can remember any of these stories to help them explain what this means! Throughout this month, as well as encouraging and praising honesty about their behaviour, staff will be supporting the children in being honest in their learning so that they can develop the foundations of a growth mindset.
