This week in Year 5 we have had our second lesson in Lacrosse. We have two American coaches called Trey and Nate and they are very good at lacrosse. They have taught us how to professionally scoop up a ground ball (it's very hard!).
We learnt that the word 'Lacrosse' comes from the French langauge and it is a game that originated in North America, by the Native Indians. They played it before they went to war, but thankfully they don't now.
Every Wednesday, we go to on the field and learn some new techniques, then we play a little match. The scoops look like a little plastic net on a pole.
We think Lacrosse is fun and a great opportunity to learn a new sport. We hope you have enjoyed our blog and found it interesting.

It's that time of year again, folks!

The second half of the term is well under way. With weeks of rehearsal under our belts, the first performance of this year's school play, Robin Hood, was on Tuesday evening. Year 5 are the first on stage and start the whole thing off with a bang (or should I say ghostly squeal). The whole school community has worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks to bring everything together and the children are performing magnificently. The brilliant audiences who laugh and clap in all the right places, certainly encourage the children to raise their performances to the highest level. Greasepaint comes off tomorrow and we're back to normality next week.
Week 1 in Year 5

We've had a great first week in Year 5. The children have worked hard and we have managed to get through a lot of activities, even though it was our first week back after the break. Almost all PE kits and plimsolls are present and correct and our tidy cloakroom is impressive. Long may it continue! The desk drawers are something of a novelty, but the class have quickly got used to them and are (so far) keeping everything well organised. Most maths homework came back today. Let's aim for 100% next week!
