Our Year One Class starting a new year in school and finding out about what each other has been doing during the summer holiday.  The children joined their school friends from the school to take part in a Harvest Festival celebration.  

Our children looked at the patterns & textures in materials from their local environment.  The children examining the textures & patterns of the stone walls around the play ground.  They then recreated the stone patterns as well as the tonal variations they saw earlier during this art lesson.

The children were encouraged to bring a cherished soft toy to school as the basis for a writing project during their English lessons.

During Golden Time the children are given an opportunity to explore imaginative activities such as LEGO construction.

The children went to the local theatre to watch a staged performance of Dear Zoo.  The children joined their friends from Year Two & Reception classes in the theatre auditorium ready for Dear Zoo.

As part of our school wide celebration of Black History month our children take part in a South African themed dance workshop.  The children toke part with great enthusiasm in the South African themed dance workshop for Black History month.

As part of our WW1 commemorations the children in Year One studied poppies and created printing templates with flower designs.  The children covered their scored design templates with scarlet coloured ink and began the tricky printing process.  The children covered their scored design templates with scarlet coloured ink and began the tricky printing process.  The children from Mrs King’s Year Six visited each classroom to sell commemorative poppies on behalf the Royal British Legion.  As part of our own Festival of Rememberance, the children made poppies from card & wire that were ‘planted’ on the front lawn.  The children  joined their school friends in a special memorial service for the WW1 centenary with Reverend Mary.  The WW1 memorial poppies were ‘planted’ on the front lawn ofour school for all our visitors to see & experience.
