Rural Sports Success!

Congratulations to all the children who took part in this years Rural Schools' District Athletics. It was a tremendous afternoon and for the second year running Ickleford Primary School finished first in the large schools competition.

The afternoon started with the Year 2 boys and girls 40m sprints followed by the Year 3 boys and girls 60m sprints. We then had the Year 4 sprints, again over 60m, and the Year 5 and 6 boys and girls finished the sprint races with theirs being competed over 80m.

Well done to all those who ran.

Once the sprints had been completed it was time for the long distance races for Years 5 and 6. Congratulations to the four children who competed in these races. This year it was over 600m and they never gave up and put in a fantastic effort.

The afternoon came to a close with the mixed relay races, each team from each year group giving it their all.

All the schools taking part then gathered for the placements and prize givings...the top three schools were announced in reverse order with Ickleford claiming first place.

A wonderful team effort that all the children who took part can be proud of, and thankyou to all the friends and family members who came along to support, what a great afternoon!
